Three high-rise apartment buildings stand next to Nippori station which are noticeable form everywhere around the station.
There is a shopping district specializing in fabric, sewing and needlework in the east area of Nippori station. About a hundred shops sell fabric materials, leather materials, buttons and other accessories, sewing machines and tools, etc.
The Yanaka cemetery, one of the largest cemeteries in Tokyo opened in 1874, is located in the south-west neighbor of Nippori station. Many well-known persons (including the last Shogun, Yoshinobu Tokugawa) were buried in this cemetery.
The west area of Nippori Station is called “Yanaka”. The Yanaka shopping street has a good atmosphere of decades ago and attracts many people.
