Kichijyoji temple was located near Suidobashi station until the Great Fire of Meireki in 1657.  After the fire, the temple was relocated to the current place in Hon-komagome and the temple town and residents moved to a west suburban village which is now called Kichijoji.

“Bocchan” is one of the most well-know novels in Japan written by Soseki Natume and the last sentence of the novel is “So Kiyo’s grave is in the Yogen temple at Kobinata”.  Although Natsume family’s temple is in Kobinata, Yogen temple where Soseki’s friend (whose grandma is Kiyo) was buried is in Hon-komagome.  Below is a photo of the graveyard of Yogen temple.
